The horses are local breed commonly found across Egypt, referred to as Baladi or simply Egyptian horses. These horses are native to Egypt and have mixed bloodlines with Arabian and European influences. They are spirited, forward-going, and responsive with impressive stamina for long days in the saddle. Each horse is unique, and the outfitter will do their best to match horse to rider based on riding ability and personal preferences.
Horse welfare in Egypt is a significant issue, with widespread reports of abuse, neglect, and suffering due to factors like inadequate laws, lack of education, and poverty; however, our outfitter was founded with the goal of helping some of these horses in need and giving them a second chance at a better life. If you are looking for a ride that gives back, this is it!
One of the many incredible scenes from riding in Egypt includes watching vibrant hot air balloons take off at sunrise, viewing from horseback as they float above the riders and over the Valley of the Kings. Followed by a traditional breakfast of falafel and ful medames.
